Sometimes, you may have noticed some friends in your school being able to play seemingly any song on the piano. You perhaps also noticed that they are able to do this without even looking at any scores. You will be surprised to know that many of these ‘professional’ pianists you see in your school in Singapore are actually just playing chords!
That is right. When you learn how to play chords on piano, you will be able to play a lot of songs with ease. While you should also ideally learn how to play the actual piano sheet music, knowing how to utilize piano chords is still a fantastic skill to show off.
Let us talk about some big tips (for the rest just refer to the attached video below).
The piano chords that we are going to be talking about in this article are C major, F major, G major and A minor. C major uses the notes C, E and G. F major uses the notes F, A and C. G major uses G, B and D. Finally, A minor chord utilizes A, C and E.
Now, we want to put the above mentioned chords into a progression so that it will not sound so random and sound more sophisticated.
You also want to always use all three notes within the chords so that they will maintain their identity. This means that we will also always know what chords we are really playing at any given moment in time!
At the beginning, you just want to play the chords in as many different ways as possible. Do not worry about timing or rhythm at this point in time.
